Dahlia Klein, a Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholar alumna, joined the University of Chicago’s Department of Physics after completing her postdoctoral research at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. She is now the Neubauer Family Assistant Professor of Physics in the University of Chicago’s Department of Physics and James Franck Institute, where her lab studies quantum phenomena and topological materials in condensed matter systems. During her Zuckerman-supported postdoc in Weizmann’s Department of Condensed Matter Physics, Dr. Klein studied 2D quantum materials using carbon nanotube-based single-electron transistors, a powerful measurement platform developed at Weizmann. That expertise continued to bear fruit beyond the scholarwship, including in a 2026 Nature paper on imaging sub-moiré potentials with an atomic single-electron transistor. The publication highlights how her Zuckerman experience helped seed lasting Israel-US scientific ties and shaped the independent research lab she now leads in Chicago.
