How the Brain Guides Behavior in Making Food Choices
Columbia University

Zuckerman Zuckerman-CHE Israeli Woman Postdoctoral Scholar (Alumna) Shai Berman led a symposium t OHBM 2026, the Organization for Human Brain Mapping’s annual meeting.  The symposium, titled Memory, Interoception, and Sensory Valuation: How the Brain Constructs Food Representations to Guide Behavior, reflects Dr. Berman’s postdoctoral focus on ways states such as hunger shape value-based decision-making especially in the context of food choices. Her research bridges memory and sensory processing to understand how the brain integrates internal signals with experience to guide behavior.
