- Welcoming Returning Israeli Scientists
As the new academic year began in Israel after a nearly three-month delay, the Zuckerman Israel Institute honored 44 Israeli scientists who have returned from North America over the last seven years at a unique gathering in Tel Aviv, in partnership with Startup Nation Central. Strong Israeli Academia = Strong Israel took place on January 14 at Startup Nation Central’s headquarters.
Lina Deshilton, Zuckerman Israel Institute’s Executive Director, provided an overview of the program’s achievements over the past seven years.
The evening included presentations by special guests, including Eliran Elimelech, VP of Ecosystem Development at Startup Nation Central, who introduced the Israeli ecosystem of innovation and technology.
Israeli Ambassador Designate to Spain, Amb. Zvi Vapni, spoke about Israeli diplomacy in times of crisis, and Prof. Boaz Golany, Zuckerman STEM Leadership Program’s academic advisor, discussed strategies to combat academic challenges during conflict.
The evening provided a first-time opportunity for many faculty scholars to meet in person, as well as meet the new faculty scholars joining the program this year.
