Refining Models That Drive Fluid Mechanics
Technion – Israel Institute of Technology
Congratulations to Zuckerman Israeli Postdoctoral Scholar alum Dr. Evgeniy Boyko, Assistant Professor at Technion’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, on publishing new research that revisits the gap between theoretical models and experimental observations in non-Newtonian fluid mechanics.
In his paper, featured in Rheologica Acta’s special Early Career Issue on Trends and Progress in Rheology, Boyko investigates how four elastic dumbbell models can predict the flow of viscoelastic fluids in narrow channels. The study compares the waymicroscopic features—finite extensibility, conformation-dependent friction, and non-affine deformation—affect the flow rate and stress distribution in fully developed pressure-driven channel flows.
