Congratulations to Zuckerman Faculty Scholar Igal Berenshtein on opening the Marine Ecology and Ocean Health Lab in The Leon H. Charney School of Marine Sciences at the University of Haifa.
Dr. Berenshtein and his team will address critical questions regarding the health and ecology of the marine environment, using a multi-disciplinary approach. They combine laboratory, in-situ, and advanced modeling techniques to study the effect of oil pollution and other stressors on the marine environment.
Their research includes behavioral experiments that explore how larval fish respond to these stressors and how small-scale behavioral changes can influence large-scale phenomena such as population connectivity and ecosystem dynamics
