Scholar’s light-sensing discovery presented at Blavatnik Science Symposium in New York

Dr. Moran Shalev-Benami, Zuckerman Faculty Scholar at Weizmann Institute of Science’s Department of Chemical and Structural Biology, presented her latest research at the 2025 Blavatnik Science Symposium, hosted by the New York Academy of Sciences. The annual symposium brings together current and former recipients of the prestigious Blavatnik Award for Young Scientists, which Dr. Shalev -Benami received in 2024.
Her presentation highlighted recent advances made at her Weizmann lab. And unveiled a new type of light-sensing protein discovered in Antarctic algae.
