New breakthrough on the SENSEI experiment!
School of Physics and Astronomy, Tel Aviv University
Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholar, Sho Uemura, and scientists working on the SENSEI experiment at the Department of Energy’s Fermilab now have demonstrated for the first time a particle detector — based on charge-coupled device, or CCD, technology — with both the sensitivity and reduced background rates needed for an effective search for low-mass particles of dark matter, the mysterious substance that accounts for about 80 percent of all matter in the universe.
