Congratulations to Yossi Weizmann, Zuckerman Faculty Scholar in the Department of Chemistry at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, on the publication of his paper, Molecular light-to-heat conversion promotes orthogonal synthesis and assembly of metal-organic frameworks, in the March 2025 issues of Nature Communications. This cutting-edge approach offers precise temperature control without traditional heating methods, opening up a world of potential for advanced materials in catalysis, sensing, and nanotechnology.

Abstract:
Temperature is a fundamental parameter in any chemical process, affecting reaction rates, selectivity and more. In this regard, photon-assisted heat gen- eration for chemical reactions utilizing photothermal materials is emerging as an exciting tool for innovative research. Herein, we develop a synthesis and in- situ assembly strategy for metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) based on the distinct heating of photothermal materials under visible light.
